WildFly 8
Best-in-Class Java App Server
WildFly 8 is the latest version of the widely used Java application server formerly known as JBoss. This version is simply the fastest, easiest to use, and most powerful Java application server available today.
The benefits of WildFly are too numerous to mention in this space, but here are some of the most important ones:
-
Fast and Light – WildFly is all about speed and efficiency with a rapid boot, ability to handle over one million connections, and a lightweight memory footprint.
-
Advanced Class Management - An optimized class management system only loads classes that are needed.
-
Java EE 7 – WildFly is one of only two Java application servers that are certified by Oracle for Java EE 7 Full Platform Compatible Implementations.
-
Ease of Administration – Many new features make it easy for administrators to manage the system.
-
Integration with Best Components – The best open source Java component projects integrate well with WildFly, including Hibernate, Arquillian, RESTeasy and many more.

Staging Server
Best Practice for Change Management
Any time a change is made to an environment, something can go wrong. Usually this happens when you least expect it. Best Practices call for a controlled way to manage changes to your live server by using a staging server which is identical to your live environment. This approach has many advantages, including:
- Checking out App Updates – Not only do the applications change, but adjustments are often needed to your settings, program code or database. Be safe – check out your updates on the staging server before you update the live server.
- Verifying Changes in Program Code - Any time you change your program code or make significant content changes there is a risk of disruption. You should verify changes on your staging server, and then promote them to production.
- Application and Load Testing – Testing should always be performed on a staging server. Application testing and load testing are very important, but they should not be performed on a live environment.
If you are interested in a staging server we have a great promotion in this newsletter for one month free on a staging server. We will also make a clone of your live server onto the staging server at no charge. For more information contact sales@eapps.com.

New TLDs
A year ago we posted a blog article about new TLDs and how you can take advantage of the opportunity to obtain a more meaningful domain name. Today we want to provide an update to what is happening with the new TLD “land rush.”
New TLDs are domain name extensions based on common words or terms. The intent is to provide more meaning and context to a domain name. Examples of new TLDs are .accountant, .bike, .guru, .ninja, .food, .budapest, .music and many more. At this time over 300 new TLDs have been approved for use on the Internet, with more coming on line each week.
The big question in everyone’s mind is this – Are they worth it? Experts say that adoption and recognition of new TLDs could take a while, and that with so many new TLDs it is hard to see how they all will achieve “mind share.” However, sales are increasing. Over two million new TLDs have been sold, with .guru, .berlin, .email, and .photography being the top four sellers. Commercial web sites using new TLDs are starting to appear and people are using new TLDs in creative ways. For example, a small bakery business owner can create an email address such as roxana@roaxanascookies.rocks. The possible combinations are limited only by one’s imagination.
Whether you want to protect your brand, extend your brand, or break out with an eyecatching and memorable domain name, eApps can help. We have the tools to allow you to search, watch, pre-register, and buy domain names using a new TLD. Just login to your Portal and go to the New TLD Center. If you need further assistance contact sales@eapps.com.

TECH TIP
Server Load Testing
One of the common questions we get is “How much RAM and CPU do I need?” Our answer is simple and 100% accurate. “That depends” we say. The truth is that each customer’s application is different. The only way to know for sure is to perform Load Testing. Fortunately, there are excellent free tools available. One is JMeter, from The Apache Software Foundation. JMeter was originally developed to test Java programs, but it has evolved to support all of the major programming languages. Check it out!
If you have any questions on Java Load Testing or Staging Servers, please contact sales@eapps.com.
