Resource Monitoring
eApps launches FREE Monitoring Service
YOU want to see and know what is going on with your Virtual Server. WE have a solution for you! We are pleased to announce a new FREE service for eApps customers with Linux Virtual Cloud Servers and Virtual Machines. The service is located conveniently in your customer Portal, under the “My Cloud” menu. The service provides two major benefits.
Usage Graphs – The Resource Monitor provides historical graphs showing the usage of your Virtual Server’s resources. Up to four weeks of history can be viewed for each resource. You can activate this service in the Resource Monitor area of the “My Cloud” menu and see usage graphs for the following resources:

Swap (shows when RAM swaps to disk)

CPU
-
Disk
-
Port Speed

Malware Scanning
Daily Malware & Vulnerability Scanning
![]() eApps has partnered with SiteLock to bring you a Malware and Vulnerability Scanning service. This service includes a set of daily and on demand scanning services to detect malware, identify vulnerabilities, and determine if your web pages or mail server are black listed. SiteLock provides a “malware free” Security Seal to display on your site, which has proven to increase conversions by enhancing the confidence of site visitors.
The service comes in three editions – Basic, Premium, and Enterprise. The latter two editions include a comprehensive deep file scan, which can also be configured to remove some malware automatically.

Plesk 12 for Windows!
If you like the ease of use of a control panel, and need or prefer the Windows operating system, we have great news for you. We now offer virtual servers running the Windows OS with the popular Plesk 12 control panel! Tech Tip
Fail2ban, extra security measure
Fail2ban is software for Linux servers that provides an extra layer of protection for your Virtual Server. This low overhead program reads system log files (pop/imap/ssh/ftp), in real-time, and based on certain conditions performs actions. The most common use is to block repeated access attempts. It can be configured to block the source IP in the local Linux firewall, thwarting a hacker’s attempt to gain access.
eApps has protection systems at the network level. However, with the increasing number of threats it makes sense to have multiple layers of protection. You can install Fail2ban yourself, or we can do it for only $15. The fee is higher for servers running a CMS application because a plugin must be installed and configured.
